My Village Mahesh Limbu
My village is almost 400 miles from the main capital of Kathmandu City and located in the north side. Most areas of village have been covered by dense forest. There are fifty to sixty houses built and all family members recognize each other. Still, there is no public or private transportation system. People walk on the narrow street to go from one place to another. There are a few grocery and convenience stores, but only open in the day light because there is no electricity. Mostly, villages have used home made kerosene light.
House members have huge land in the mountain side and cultivate it to grow rice, maize, wheat, and seasonal vegetables without use modern type farmer equipments. They produce milk, eggs, meat, from domestic animals such as hens, goat, sheep. There is only one school where students study up to tenth grade. When I studied in the school, students sat on the floor and teachers stood up. Now school has a student bench and black board. Everyday, I walked almost one mile to go school. Sometime, I was scared because of wild animals. We usually carry long home made knife “ Khukuri”. that is the traditional culture of village, but girls do not carry them and they only go to school if the family members have no son. Most of the young adults age between 18 to 20 years boys want to join in the British Army because they recruit from World War I until now and there is no opportunity to get higher education in this village. Therefore, many of my friends joined in the army on behalf of British Force. Still, my relative are engaged in the Falkland, Iraq, and Afghanistan war on behalf of British Army. My grand father was a British solder and got pension from Britain, but now he has passed away.
Mostly adult members of family has been sold harvest organic delicious oranges to other areas to earn money and they want to buy cloth, shoes, shop, and some luxurious material such as bicycle, tape records, and watches. People are very healthy in that village even though they have no hospital or health post. In summer time the maximum temperature is 75 degree Fahrenheit and in winter time the minimum temperature is 65 degree Fahrenheit and all the time cool fresh air flows in that areas. Therefore, village temperature always keeps constant when seasons change. This is a unique characteristic of my village. My village is a small where many people and tourist visit this famous place to enjoy the sunset view at the evening time. Some tourist spend a few days to see the sunset view but there is no place to commercialize for business purposes.

Students are singing a national anthem song before start the first class.
